Programs That Build Sailing Opportunities
Vallarta Sailing Foundation supports sailors and sailing programs that expand access to training, competition and development opportunities in Mexico. Our funding helps young sailors develop their skills, compete beyond their local waters and gain access to the equipment and resources needed to progress in the sport.
Youth & Junior Sailing
We support programs that introduce young people to sailing and help developing sailors continue progressing through structured training and competition.
Foundation support can help provide:
- Sailing instruction and training opportunities
- Equipment used by youth and junior sailing programs
- Maintenance of boats and equipment used for junior sailor training
- Opportunities for young sailors to participate in organized competition
Competition & Athlete Support
For developing sailors, reaching the next level often requires competing outside their home waters. Vallarta Sailing Foundation helps sailors pursue regional, national and international competition by supporting competition and travel expenses.
Foundation-supported sailors have competed in events ranging from Mexican national championships to North American and world championships.
Support may include:
- Regatta entry and competition expenses
- Travel associated with major sailing events
- Training and preparation for higher-level competition
- Equipment needed for training and racing

Training & Sailing Equipment
Reliable equipment is essential to safe and effective sailor development. The Foundation supports the purchase, maintenance and replacement of equipment used for training and competition.
This can include boats, sails, rigging, safety equipment and other resources that help sailing programs provide consistent training opportunities.
Regattas & Sailing Development
Vallarta Sailing Foundation also supports events and programs that strengthen the sport of sailing in Mexico and create opportunities for sailors to compete in high-quality fleets close to home.
The Foundation has promoted and sponsored major events including the Optimist North American Championships, ILCA World Championships and J/70 North American Championships.
Supporting major regattas in Mexico helps bring experienced sailors, coaches and international competition to the region while creating opportunities for Mexican sailors to participate at a higher level.
From Local Training to International Competition
These programs work together. A young sailor may begin in a local junior program, develop through regular training and national competition, and eventually compete internationally. Vallarta Sailing Foundation helps remove financial and equipment barriers along that path.
